Unions only work when we all come together and do our part for the whole unit. That means not only joining the union, but getting involved. This can look like reading and knowing your contract, coming to general membership meetings, speaking out about what KSP has done for you and why you're a member, talking to your non-member co-workers about why we need them, becoming a building liaison, joining the Executive Board, or any combination of the above!

There are lots of reasons to join KSP, but the biggest - the one that's often not talked about, or even known, is that a union has to have a certain percentage of represented employees as active Members in Good Standing. When a union goes below that percentage, the contract we've worked so hard on is dissolved, and the bargaining unit is decertified. The union ceases to exist. So while there are lots of perks to union membership, which can be found HERE, the biggest benefit is ensuring our bargaining power now, and in the future. 

A strong union starts and ends with its membership. We need you, we need your voice, we need your commitment. Together, we can work to improve our wages, our benefits, and our working conditions. Every office. Every bus. Every classroom. All of us!
